My Background

I am passionate about supporting individuals on their journey to well-being through my extensive experience and qualifications in counseling and mental health. As a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in North Carolina, I bring a solid foundation of knowledge to our work together.

 

My educational background includes a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, a Master’s degree in Special Education, and a Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in Religion. Additionally, I have earned graduate certificates in Family Life Education and Coaching, as well as Expressive Arts Therapy. I am working on my certified poetry therapy licensure with the International Federation for Biblio/Poetry Therapy.

I am well-equipped to address a range of mental health conditions, focusing on acute stress disorders, disabilities, and depression-related issues. My therapeutic modalities include:

 

  • Expressive Arts Therapy: Utilizing creative expression such as art, music, and poetry to facilitate healing and self-discovery.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): Offering skills to manage emotions, improve relationships, and tolerate distress.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Addressing negative thought patterns and behaviors to improve emotional regulation and coping strategies

My Modalities

I am well-equipped to address a range of mental health conditions, focusing on acute stress disorders, disabilities, and depression-related issues. As a Board-Certified Coach (BCC) specializing in Life Balance Coaching, I help clients balance work, family, and personal life, particularly those with disabilities and mental health conditions. This involves priority setting, goal targeting, and time management.

As a Certified Stress Management Consultant (SMC-C), I assess stress levels, identify significant stressors, and educate clients on health risks. I develop individualized stress management plans using holistic approaches, implement stress management interventions, and teach lifelong techniques. I also assist in evaluating therapy effectiveness and work with families and groups to enhance coping mechanisms.

My diverse experience includes working in community mental health, inpatient psychiatric care, higher education accessibility, public school mental health coordination, and private practice. My therapeutic modalities include expressive arts, ACT, DBT, and CBT. This background allows me to provide comprehensive and tailored support across various mental health settings.
